Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is We The Vote?
We The Vote is an independent, nonpartisan website where voters can voluntarily and anonymously share how they voted, then see those community reports next to official results and news race calls.
Is We The Vote an official election source?
No. Only your state and county election offices publish official results. We link to them and clearly label community reports as unofficial and voluntary.
Is my vote report private?
Yes. Reports are never shown individually and are never linked to your name. Area totals stay hidden until at least 10 people in that area have reported.
Why do totals stay hidden until 10 reports?
Small numbers could reveal how a specific person voted. Waiting for 10 protects every reporter's privacy.
Do I need to give my full name or ID?
No. You can sign in with Apple, Google or an email link. We create a username for you, and you can change it.
Can community reports prove an election was wrong?
No. Voluntary reports are not a random sample, so differences from official results are expected and are not evidence of wrongdoing.
Where do official results come from?
From free public feeds and websites run by state and county election offices. Each result links to its source.
Does it cost anything?
No. We The Vote is free. You can choose to chip in any amount, even $1, but it never changes what the site shows.
Which election is this for?
The first election on We The Vote is the 2026 U.S. midterm elections.
